I love the thought of a capsule wardrobe, of a limited selection of pieces that goes well together and, can be worn in multiple combinations. What I don’t love about a capsule wardrobe is that so many fabulous styles are lost in building them up.
.
The idea behind the capsule wardrobe is that it should be quick and easy getting dressed in the morning. My worries though are that most people seem to think that all these hard working pieces need to be neutral, discrete and timeless. But do they really?
.
There are certain items that are thought of as necessary in each wardrobe. Like a pair of black trousers, T-shirts, jeans and a blazer.
But what if you’re not a jeans type? And what if a blazer doesn’t feels right?
.
I do believe that having items that work hard for us and, that we love and feel fabulous in, is important, but they don’t necessarily have to follow a certain scheme, do they? In my opinion what they need to do is speak our language. It may sound like very bold personal styling, but our clothes should really be a reflection of who we are as person’s. They need to tell our story.
.
Because we all are different so should our capsule wardrobes be. I for example am not a big fan of blazers and have never felt that it was an item I needed in my wardrobe. I recently bought a vintage blazer though that I absolutely love because it’s me. Whenever I put on a “normal” blazer I sort of feel like me and my style is disappearing.
.
So, before you start building up your capsule wardrobe and filling your closet with neutral coloUred closet staples, find out what your style really is or could be.
.
Maybe you don’t really know because perhaps you didn’t let your true self out yet, and if not I really encourage you to do that! There’s absolutely no reason why we should walk around looking like everybody else when we can look like ourselves.
.
I’m here to help if you’re interested in knowing and developing your personal and unique style and looking and feeling better than ever!
